IRINA BJÖRKLUND
Born in Sweden, singer-songwriter Irina Björklund spent her childhood in Finland and France, followed by an adult life shared between Los Angeles and Provence. This explains the various cultural approaches to her lyrics. She has indeed a special love for the French language, and her work of translating two full albums (La Vie Est une Fête and Ce Soir tout Peut Arriver) of famous Finnish songs into French earned her not only radio play in France, but also the title of “Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres” by the French ministry of culture and communication. Some may call it knighthood.
Film geeks will also be happy to find out that she’s the same Irina that can be spotted in season 3 of Daryl Dixon - The Walking Dead, as well as in the upcoming Netflix show The Case, among 70+ other film- and TV credits over the past 30 years.
Through a mutual film maker friend, Irina met and ended up collaborating with Peter Fox. The pair released their first record Oh l’Amour in 2006, a colorful ode to love, followed by two more albums, Vintage Espresso and Chanson d’Automne. For several years, they regularly played shows at the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood. 20 years after their first album, they are releasing a new one through Brooklyn Pearl Records: We Could All Pretend, with Nicolette as their first single.
